You're carrying a lot right now

Raising a deaf child takes so much more than following the first plan you're handed after diagnosis.

You're doing everything you can. You're showing up to appointments. You're researching late into the night. You're listening to doctors, audiologists, therapists, teachers, and anyone else who seems to have answers.

You love your child deeply, and you're trying to make the best decisions you can with the information you have.

But somewhere along the way, it started to feel like...

  • every person has a different opinion
  • every path comes with pressure
  • and every decision carries the weight of your child's future.

You were told there was a right way forward. Yet the more information you gather, the harder it becomes to see the whole picture.

Photo placeholder A warm, candid photo of a parent with their deaf child works beautifully here.

Maybe right now you're...

And maybe you've been told sign language isn't necessary, but you can't shake the feeling you're missing something important.

There has got to be a better way.

What if you could stop feeling like you have to figure everything out alone?

You don't need someone telling you what decisions to make. You need access to the perspectives, experiences, and conversations that help you see what's possible.

You need to be inspired by people who have actually lived it.

Photo placeholder A hopeful, joyful image of a child signing or a family connecting fits here.

How would it feel to...

  • Learn directly from Deaf adults who can share what they wish hearing parents understood from the beginning.
  • Learn from parents who have walked this road before you and found their footing.
  • Understand why early language access matters and what it can mean for your child's future.
  • Feel connected to a community that truly understands what you're navigating.
  • See a future that feels hopeful, joyful, and full of possibility.
  • Make decisions with confidence because you've explored more than one perspective.
  • Focus less on fixing and more on connecting with your child.

This is exactly what you'll experience at the Growing Up Deaf Summit.

You'll discover a wider view of what's possible for your child and your family.

Join us for the Growing Up Deaf Summit and learn from 20+ Deaf adults, parents, educators, advocates, interpreters, and professionals who will share the experiences, insights, and resources that can help you move forward with confidence.

Meet your host

Hi, I'm Kris Daria.

A hearing mom raising my Deaf son, Jayden, bilingually in ASL and English.

When Jayden was diagnosed at 18 months old and later received a cochlear implant at age two, I was told I didn't need to learn sign language right away. Like many parents, I wanted to do everything right. I followed the recommendations, worked hard, and trusted the experts around me.

But underneath it all, something didn't feel complete. I couldn't fully understand my own child, and I couldn't shake the feeling that there had to be more to the story.

So we started learning sign language. Everything began to change.

What started as a search for better communication opened the door to an entire community, a richer understanding of Deaf culture, and a completely different vision for what my son's future could look like.

Since 2020, I've been on a journey of my own. What began as learning how to better support my son eventually became a much deeper path of personal growth and healing. Along the way, I became a certified group facilitator, learned how to hold space for women in circles, and committed to the kind of inner work that helps us move through fear instead of being controlled by it.

That personal transformation taught me that information matters, but feeling seen, understood, and connected matters too.

As Co-Chair of the Parent Council at Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf, I've seen firsthand how powerful connection, language access, and community can be.

I created the Growing Up Deaf Summit because it's the resource I wish someone had handed me the day my son was diagnosed.

I can't wait to welcome you.

The missing piece many families never receive

The Growing Up Deaf Summit was intentionally created to center the perspectives and experiences that are often missing from early conversations after diagnosis.

Many parents receive plenty of information about technology, therapies, and medical options. Far fewer are introduced to Deaf adults. Far fewer learn honest stories from families who have already walked this path. Far fewer are invited into Deaf culture and community early enough to understand the opportunities those connections can create.

This summit was built to change that.

Every presentation is ASL interpreted, captioned, and transcribed, because accessibility isn't a bonus feature here. It's part of the foundation.

Instead of telling you what decisions to make, this summit helps you see a wider range of possibilities so you can make informed choices that align with your family's values, goals, and needs.

Kris Daria, summit host

I know you're ready to feel more connected, confident, and hopeful about the road ahead.

It's time to stop carrying the weight of every decision alone, and to discover the people, perspectives, and resources that can help you move forward with confidence.

Frequently asked questions

If you're a hearing parent, caregiver, or family member raising a deaf or hard-of-hearing child, this summit was created with you in mind. While much of the content is especially relevant for families with younger children who are early in their journey, anyone looking for a deeper understanding of Deaf culture, language access, communication, and family connection is welcome. This summit won't tell you which path to choose for your child. That's yours to decide. But let's be honest about where we stand. This event centers deaf/hard-of-hearing adults, sign language, and lived Deaf experience. We don't buy the idea that signing will keep your child from speaking. It won't. The research is clear, and so are the thousands of bilingual deaf kids living proof of it. If you're looking for permission to keep sign language out, this isn't your event. Your child can have both. And early language access matters more than almost anything else.
The main summit runs September 17 to 20, 2026. You'll also receive immediate access to our private Skool community after registering, so you can begin connecting with other families and participating before the event officially begins.
We know life with young children can be unpredictable. Many of the presentations are pre-recorded and available for a limited time, so you'll have flexibility to watch when it works for your schedule. We encourage you to participate during the summit if possible so you can engage with the community and take part in discussions as they happen. If you can't attend everything during the event, you'll have the option to upgrade to the All-Access Pass for extended access.
Each day's presentations are released at 9:00 AM EST and stay available for 48 hours, expiring at 9:00 AM EST two days later. As a bonus, Day 3's presentations get an extra 24 hours so you can catch up during the Day 4 closing. If you'd like lifetime access to revisit sessions anytime, plus additional resources, you'll be able to upgrade to the All-Access Pass after registering.
To provide the best experience for attendees and presenters, most presentations are pre-recorded and released on a schedule throughout the summit. This lets presenters focus on delivering valuable content while reducing technical challenges. We'll also gather live for an opening call, a hands-on ASL workshop, live ASL practice sessions with Deaf teachers, and a closing call, plus ongoing conversation inside the summit community throughout the event.
No. When you register, you'll be added to the summit email list so we can send important event updates, presentation links, and summit-related information. Presenters will not automatically receive your email address. Some presenters may offer optional resources that you can access by providing your email directly to them, but that choice will always be yours.
Yes. Every presentation includes ASL interpretation, captions, and transcripts. Accessibility was built into this event from the beginning because we believe every family deserves equal access to the information, stories, and support being shared. If there's anything additional we can do to help you participate fully, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Our logo was designed by Chantal Noseworthy, a Deaf ASL teacher. The handshapes woven into it aren't decoration, they carry meaning, which felt exactly right for a summit built around Deaf language and identity. Chantal is building her own work teaching ASL to families. You can find her here.
If you still have questions, we encourage you to register and join the community. Many common questions are answered during the summit experience and through conversations with other attendees. If you'd prefer to contact us before registering, please email hello@krisdaria.com.
