Nobody warns you about this part. The classes are the easy bit. Finding an actual human to sign with is where most parents stall out.
The Signing Room is live ASL classes taught by Deaf instructors, grouped by level so you are never the only one fumbling and never the one holding everyone back. If there is nobody in your life who signs, this is where you get to practise.
Do the level check first. It takes about ten minutes and it is the difference between a class that stretches you and one that flattens you. Most parents land lower than they expect. That changes nothing about whether you belong there.
